Started in Christchurch in 1979, The Diff Shop is New Zealand's #1 and original differential specialists. With over 40 years of industry experience, we know all the ins and outs of getting your diff performing its absolute best.

Over the years we have seen a huge change in the business. We first started out in a modest 2 car garage and after moving shop twice, we now find ourselves in a fully purpose-built workshop in Templeton, Christchurch. The new workshop has specific places for the stripping and assessing of diffs, a general workshop area with a number of hoists so we can offer a drive-in drive-out service, clean rooms for the diff building and welding, an engineering room and our own fabrication workshop.

The Diff Shop was started in 1979 by John Gilmore and since then he has acquired a huge amount of knowledge and skills over the years and passed them on to the current owner Stephen Wright who has been in the industry for nearly 20 years!
